Pench National Park has been one of the most fascinating forests in India and it is always recommended to have this Park as part of your wildlife itineraries. Be rest assured of a great safari experience when it comes to Pench, as it will give you lot of jaw dropping views of wildlife including the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. Pench National Park is located in the lower southern areas of the Satpuda slopes and was named after the Pench River. It is placed on the Southern border of Madhya Pradesh and Northern border of Maharashtra, covering the areas of Seoni and Chhindwara. Pench National Park is spread over 758 km sq, out of which a core zone of 299 km sq is the National Park and rest is the buffer region. This Park is located between four different Mountain Ranges – Aravali, Vindhyanchal, Satpura and Maikal.
Pench National Park is famous for large herds of Gaur (Indian Bison), Cheetal, Sambar, Nilgai, Wild Dog and Wild Boar. The sightings of the Royal Bengal Tigers and Leopards also make the Park a favourite amongst wildlife enthusiasts. Other animals including the Wolf, Sloth Bear, Chousingha, Chinkara, Barking Deer, Jackal, Fox, Palm Civet, Small Indian Civet, Jungle Cat, Hyena, and Porcupine are also sighted.

Rudyard Kipling has written about the Seoni Hills and its wild denizens. Lt. Moor of the British Army first noticed the naked boy and his strange association with the wolf pack in Pench National Park. Kipling wrote the “Jungle Book” based on this phenomenon.
